Thandie Newton screentested for `Casino Royale` Bond Girl role

British actress Thandie Newton screentested for a role in the forthcoming James Bond film Casino Royale, according to reports in the Sunday Mirror tabloid.

According to the paper, producers were apparently "blown away" by the Mission Impossible II star during screen tests, while new Bond Daniel Craig was "deeply impressed" by her acting.

An "insider" told the Sunday Mirror, "Thandie is a natural Bond girl. She's feisty but sexy - the perfect combination."

Other reports indicate Newton failed to land any role in the film.
