Eric Bana confirms `next Bond` rumours were totally baseless

During the storm of news stories speculating on who would play the next James Bond last year, Eric Bana's name kept being mentioned despite the actor's repeated denials
The Australian actor told News.com.au this week that there was never anything to the stories in the first place.

"I was never in contention for Bond," Bana said.

"My publicist put out a definite statement two years ago denying it and that was the thing that convinced everyone that I was actually doing James Bond."

Daniel Craig became the sixth official 007 in October last year, ending months of speculation.
