Canadian students name Q as top engineer
With an affinity for high-tech gadgets and over-the-top technology, British Columbia's engineering students are looking to gadgetry masters like James Bond's go-to-guy Q for inspiration on the job - reports
Vancouver 24.
According to a survey of local engineers and UBC engineering students by AMEC, an international project management and engineering company, students picked Q as the most beloved engineer.
"Any self-respecting geek" has to love Q, said UBC engineering student Katherine Louman-Gardiner.
"He comes up with the coolest stuff. The other thing about Q is he has to deal with James Bond, and that's an indication of the kind of stuff engineers have to deal with."
AMEC's Lower Mainland spokesperson John Kageorge told 24 hours that besides having a bit of fun, the survey is actually a great way to understand the kinds of engineers they will be recruiting.
"What they're really interested in is the neat gadgets and handling unique problems with finesse," said Kageorge, a good sign for Vancouver's future since these engineers are our future city planners.
"They're going to approach problems with finesse, and style, and with a little bit of humour."
