Tina Turner rumoured for Casino Royale theme song, Broccoli misquoted
MEDIA RUMOUR
The latest rumour in the tabloid press concerning the forthcoming James Bond film "Casino Royale" involves the titular theme song and a spectacular misquote.
During an interview with
ComingSoon last week, producer Barbara Broccoli was asked:
Do you know who'll be doing the music for the movie yet?
Broccoli: The composer is David Arnold, who is going to be composing the score, but we have no yet chosen a person who is doing the song.
Some other journalist suggested that U2 might do a pretty cool theme for it?
Broccoli: Well, they're great. You may know that Bono wrote the song for "GoldenEye" but they didn't perform it, Tina Turner did.
Now the press have latched on to Tina Turner, with
The Sun reporting the "news":
Rock band U2 are being tipped to get music fans shaken and stirred by recording the theme tune for the next Bond movie. Bono and pals are the frontrunners to sing the theme tune for new flick Casino Royale, starring Daniel Craig as 007. Legendary Bond producer Barbara Broccoli is a fan of the Irish band and wants to give them the license to thrill.
But insiders on the set of the action-packed film say Tina Turner â who sang the GoldenEye theme â is also in the running to take on the mission of being the act with the golden tune. The songstress got to No 7 in the charts with GoldenEye in 1995.
Our inside man said: "To quote one of her hits, sheâs one of the best. We want Casino Royale to have a huge impact so we want a big theme tune. Although itâs not been decided yet, sheâs definitely high up on the wish list."
