James Bond`s Aston Martin delayed for India release

28-Apr-2006 • Bond News

Some disappointing news for James Bond wannabes. Aston Martin has braked on an Indian entry for now.

The luxury car maker Aston Martin had announced its entry into India last year. In fact, going by their earlier plans they should have launched in India around this time. But the company now says India will have to wait longer. Production delays seem to be the speed breaker.

Thomas Kastgen, CEO, Middle East Aston Martin says, "Our production is sold out for next two years, no production is available to bring to India so we are looking into production capacity and availability of production and then come to India.”

Aston Martin produces and sells 5,000 cars every year worldwide. It sold about half the number in UK and about 1,000 cars in US last year. When it comes to India, it hopes to sell 20 cars in the first year itself.

With no concrete plans to increase the capacity at the moment Aston Martin plans to reallocate the number of cars it sells to each country. India is on its radar but no timelines are being given.

The company hopes to get all its models to India. Get ready to fork out anywhere between Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore for the Bond car.
