An Evening with John Barry at the Royal Albert Hall, 28th September

18-Sep-2006 • Event

Event: An Evening with John Barry & the Ten Tenors
Location: Royal Albert Hall, London
Date: 28t September 2006
Time: 19:30

To coincide with the upcoming release of their Warner Bros. Records debut album 'Here's To The Heroes', Australian sensations The Ten Tenors will play the Royal Albert Hall on 28 September at An Evening With John Barry.

Legendary composer John Barry, who was executive producer on the album, will introduce the show and will perform as a special guest conductor at the event. The Ten Tenors will perform alongside The English Chamber Orchestra. Paul Bateman will be the principle conductor.

Recorded at Abbey Road and produced by Simon Franglen, 'Here's To The Heroes' finds The Ten Tenors backing by a 90-piece orchestra and some of the world's leading musicians paying tribute to the compositional film score icon John Barry and his lyricist partner Don Black.

'The Tenors are a great instrument, a unique group' commented Barry. 'They are also so diverse with wonderful individual voices as well as a collective sound. Writing for them was a joy because their belief was so constant. A many headed group that pulls together? Doesn't happen often. Having worked with bands and orchestras over the years I know that's a rare commodity'.

Few composers of the past half-century have enjoyed as much popular success or worldwide influence as John Barry. The winner of five Oscars, four Grammy’s, a Golden Globe and Britain's Anthony Asquith Award, he has written some of the most memorable movie music of our time: Born Free, Midnight Cowboy, Goldfinger, Out of Africa, Dances with Wolves, Somewhere in Time and dozens of other scores.

Critics have marvelled for decades at the Barry touch - a remarkable ability to capture the mood and flavour of every kind of movie, from the fanciful adventure of a James Bond thriller to the epic romantic visions of today's leading filmmakers, while retaining a style that is uniquely his own.
