Director Lee Tamahori completes his community service sentence
New Zealand movie director Lee Tamahori has completed his community service after being arrested for prostitution eight months ago - reports
Stuff.
The wayward director was ordered to complete 15 days of community service in Hollywood, including tree planting and removing graffiti, after he pleaded "no contest" to a charge of trespass.
Tamahori was charged with solicitation and loitering after, wearing an off-the-shoulder black dress, he offered sexual services to an undercover Los Angeles police officer during a sting operation.
But a plea bargain saw those charges dropped in exchange for a "no contest" plea on the charge of trespass.
Tamahori was ordered to pay a restitution fine of $US100 ($151), attend an Aids education class and was placed on probation for 36 months.
By the end of June, he had completed his community service and paid his fine.
Nick Velasquez, a spokesman for the Los Angeles city attorney's office, said there were "prostitution- related probationary restrictions".
He said Tamahori's probationary period would expire in February if he obeyed the terms of his probation.
Tamahori is best known for directing the acclaimed Once Were Warriors and the James Bond movie Die Another Day.
