Theme song for Casino Royale - `You Know My Name` - by Chris Cornell leaked online

21-Sep-2006 • Casino Royale

The new James Bond title song for the upcoming film Casino Royale by singer-songwriter Chris Cornell has been leaked online.

According to reports, promotional CDs of the song "You Know My Name" were sent to numerous Rock music stations in the USA yesterday.

The 4 minute song has spread like wildfire on the internet. Although many fans have warmly received the new track which takes the traditional "Bond theme song" in a fresh new direction, some fans are divided over the change in style.

As expected, the song does not include the title of the film in the lyrics, much like the song "All Time High" for "Octopussy" in 1983. Instead, it uses gambling, love, betrayal and death as central themes to the lyrics.

It was written in collaboration with James Bond composer David Arnold, who will be scoring Casino Royale.

Sources say that radio stations in the US are likely to put the song on the air on Friday, with a couple of outlets claiming they will play it today.

Cornell describes the new song as "more uptempo and a little more aggressive than any other Bond theme has been, maybe since Paul McCartney ("Live And Let Die"). It has an orchestra, but it also has some angry sounding guitar, and it's got feedback."

Arnold and Cornell finished recording "You Know My Name" in Air Studios in London (then mixed in L.A.) in late August.
