Small UK company enjoys a bond with Casino Royale

23-Nov-2006 • Bond News

Film props were sent from Fakenham (UK) with love for dramatic scenes in the new James Bond movie - reports the Fakenham Times

Underwater inflatable product specialist, JW Automarine, was commissioned to supply 35 air bags for use in the Pinewood Studios where the latest Bond blockbuster, Casino Royale, was made.

Now the 11 employees of the Enterprise Way firm involved in the project can't wait to watch the film and see their handiwork in all its explosive glory.

The inflatable bags were designed and built at the Fakenham factory and then transported to the studios.

They were used as a support for the sinking Venetian house featured in the multi-million film starring Daniel Craig which was given its London royal premiere last week.

And the contract has caused a buzz of exictement around the firm, which has supplied equipment for a previous Bond film, For Your Eyes Only, in 1981. Other films it has worked for include, I Spy, starring Eddie Murphy.

The chaps at the firm can't quite believe that their handiwork is integral to a film which will be seen by millions of cinema-goers around the world.

The contract - worth several thousand pounds - adds to the firm's already high profile.

As well as other films over a number of years, the firm's equipment was used in the rescue of the whale trapped in the River Thames, an operation which caught the imagination of people all over the world.

The company's business manager, Malcolm Felmingham, said he has seen pictures of the scenes and when the bags are blown up it looks very effective.

“It is good for the company to be involved in building and supplying props for such high-profile films like Casino Royale. It gives the lads added interest in their work and is a real talking point,” said Mr Felmingham.
