Ursula Andress becomes honorary citizen in Swiss home town

17-Dec-2006 • Actor News

Ursula Andress, who acted as the first James Bond girl alongside Sean Connery in 1962, was Saturday appointed an honorary citizen in her hometown Ostermundigen in Switzerland.

The 70-year old actress was presented with the award in an evening cermony with 150 guests - reports Playfuls.

Responding to a question by Mayor Christian Zahler how she had landed the role of the seductive pearl diver, Andress said it had been luck and pure chance.

The film's producers had been looking for a new somewhat sporty type of woman, and she had accepted the part because the script had been so simple.

The only thing she had to do was "run, run, run", she said.

Andress left a ceramic handprint, which is expected to be displayed in her former school.
