Hoax James Bond voice removed from Johannesburg business

12-Jan-2007 • Bond News

Johannesburg residents calling the Marlboro vehicle testing station will no longer be greeted by "James Bond", metro police said on Friday - reports IOL.

Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the hoax recording, which told callers to the testing station's switchboard that they were speaking to James Bond, had been removed.

Minnaar said police were investigating the hoax message in which a male voice said: "James Bond. Sorry our service is so bad. Try again later".

"We have no idea about how that voicemail got on there, but it's being investigated," said Minnaar.

He added that the switchboard at the testing station, damaged by lightning about eight days ago, was not yet 100 percent functional.
