Daniel Craig and Heath Ledger vying for Lucifer role in `Paradise Lost`

07-Mar-2007 • Actor News

Heath Ledger is competing with James Bond star Daniel Craig to play Satan in one of the biggest book-to-film adaptations ever made - reports Perth Now.

The two leading men are the top choices of producers behind the upcoming $130 million feature film Paradise Lost, based on John Milton's 17th-century epic poem which tells the story of Lucifer's fall and the temptation of Adam and Eve.

The film is deliberately moving away from Milton's 400-page Old English text in favour of the war of archangels - the battle in Heaven between God's and Satan's armies.

Ledger is currently playing The Joker in the next installment of the Batman franchise called The Dark Knight, which began shooting in Los Angeles last week.
