TWINE director Michael Apted comments on Daniel Craig and Casino Royale

14-Mar-2007 • Bond News

"The World Is Not Enough" (1999) director Michael Apted talked to local press in Pennsylvania, USA this week about his latest film "Amazing Grace" - and the latest developments of the James Bond franchise.

When asked what he thought of the latest film Casino Royale, Apted confirmed that he had recently seen the film and that "Daniel Craig was pretty good, and if the producers wanted to change the direction of the franchise, that was the way to go".

"It seems to me that the series has now gone in a slightly more conventional, modern-thriller way. The producers dumped the grace notes such as Moneypenny and Q and the gadgets, and it will be interesting to see how they handle the next installment."

Would Apted return to the franchise if offered? "I would, but I was never a big Bond fan, because I'm not an action guy. It wasn't something that really appealed to me", he said.
