Sir Sean Connery cancels New York appearence due to illness, is hospitalised

04-Apr-2007 • Actor News

Sir Sean Connery cancelled an appearance at a New York fashion show on Monday (2nd April) after an illness left him hospitalised - reports Contact Music.

The 76-year-old former James Bond star and his wife Micheline were due to host the Scottish-themed Dressed To Kilt charity event in Manhattan, until a mystery condition struck him down.

It is not known if his illness was linked to an operation Connery underwent last year to removed a benign kidney tumour. Guests who had paid up to $830 (GBP440) for tickets were left in the dark over the star's absence.

A source tells British newspaper the Daily Express, "Sir Sean was in hospital for tests but is apparently fine now. It was all very last-minute so the organisers didn't know when the show got underway."
