Casino Royale loses out on Edgar Award for best motion picture screenplay

30-Apr-2007 • Casino Royale

Back in January, MI6 reported that the latest James Bond film Casino Royale had been nominated for an Edgar Award by Mystery Writers of America for best motion picture screenplay produced in 2006.

Unfortunately for scribes Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and Paul Haggis, "Casino Royale" was beaten to the gong by "The Departed" (screenplay by William Monahan).

Aside from Daniel Craig's debut outing as 007, other nominees for the award included: "Children of Men", "The Good Shepherd" and "Notes on a Scandal".
