Royal themes for Young Bond 5 resurface, nothing new for regular readers

Followers of the Young James Bond series may be excited about fandom talk of Windsor Castle and the Royal Family being included in book 5 (due out in 2008), but it will be of no surprise to regular MI6 readers.

Way back in early 2005, author Charlie Higson gave his first Young Bond web interview to MI6, and lifted the lid on some of the things to come in the five book series.

Speaking about book five specifically, Higson mentioned both the Royal Family and Windsor Castle would be involved in the final plot.

The recent re-awakening of these plot points comes after the publication of "The Young Bond Rough Guide To London" which was published earlier this year as a promotional item. In the booklet, a day trip idea for London quotes "The visitor is more likely to be struck by the lonely, grey splendour of Windsor Castle, the world's largest inhabited castle which will play a key role in the fifth Young Bond novel".

Young Bond's involvement and the plot twists of book 5, which revolve around the Royal Family at Windsor Castle, are the cause for Bond's introduction to the secret service, and a hushed cover up of dates and events. As revealed in the MI6 interview, the infamous "maid incident" will be used a cover story for Bond's expulsion from Eton.
