Bond 22 script not finalized according to Daniel Craig
Daniel Craig told
reporters at Cannes that the script had not been finalized for the next James Bond film, which does not yet have a title.
"Bond 22" will be Craig's second outing as 007, and is scheduled to start shooting in January 2008 for a November 7th 2008 release.
The last 007 film was "very successful," Craig said. "We have to make the next one, I think, better than the last one to keep people happy."
Regular scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade handed the draft screenplay in to producers last month. They have now left the production to start work on Barbarella for director Robert Rodriguez.
He also said his rippling muscles have gone a little flabby. Craig told reporters at the Cannes Film Festival that he had let himself go a little since putting himself through a tough fitness regimen for "Casino Royale." "I had some down time," Craig said Monday. "I got to enjoy myself a bit. I'm getting back into shape now, I'm kind of building myself up again."
Craig was in Cannes for a preview of "The Golden Compass," a fantasy adventure that also stars Nicole Kidman. It will hit screens worldwide in December.
Produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli (Eon Productions), BOND 22 (title to be announced) is scheduled for release November 7th 2008. Principal photography will start in January 2008, at locations to be announced. The draft screenplay has been handed in by regular scribes Neal Purvis & Robert Wade, with a story that will be a direct continuation of the events of Casino Royale. It will be British actor Daniel Craigâs second outing as James Bond, following his debut film Casino Royale released November 16th 2006. Dame Judi Dench (M) and Giancarlo Giannini (Matthis) will also reprise their roles.
