New poster for Daniel Craig`s upcoming film The Invasion
Plagued with production problems, re-writes, re-shoots, re-edits and, ultimately, re-heats (this is the fourth time the 'Body Snatchers' tale has been produced for the big screen), studio Warner Bros must be hoping Daniel Craig's popularity will help sell the film. Despite his relatively small role compared to Nicole Kidman, Craig has been given equal billing and features prominently on the new poster (seen below).
"The Invasion" has suffered terrible test screening reports and producers had to bring in the Wachowski brothers (of "The Matrix" fame) to rescue original director Oliver Hirschbiegel's "talky" cut. To put the problems in to perspective, Daniel Craig was shooting his scenes for this movie when he was announced as the new James Bond in October 2005. The jury is still definitely out as to whether this will recoup its budget at the box-office in August.
Synopsis
The Invasionâ is a nightmarish journey into a world where the only way to stay alive is to stay awake. The mysterious crash of the space shuttle leads to the terrifying discovery that there is something alien within the wreckage. Those who come in contact with it are changing in ominous and inexplicable ways. Soon Washington D.C. psychiatrist Carol Bennell (Nicole Kidman) and her colleague Ben Driscoll (Daniel Craig) learn the shocking truth about the growing extraterrestrial epidemic: it attacks its victims while they sleep, leaving them physically unchanged but strangely unfeeling and inhuman. As the infection spreads, more and more people are altered and it becomes impossible to know who can be trusted. Now Carolâs only hope is to stay awake long enough to find her young son, who may hold the key to stopping the devastating invasion.
The Invasion hits theaters on August 17th 2007.
