Ian Fleming`s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang show back in the UK

22-Aug-2007 • Event

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is flying back to Sunderland, after becoming the most popular and profitable show in the theatre's 100-year history when it was here last year - reports the Sunderland Echo.

Fasten your seat belts, because the most phantasmagorical stage musical in history is bringing its high-flying tour back to the city next year.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang stopped off at Sunderland in December 2005 as part of its European tour, and it will be back next spring for an eight-week run, with 60 performances taking place from Thursday, April 17 to Saturday, June 7.

Based on the book by Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, this spectacular show boasts a cast and crew of more than 100, including 10 dogs, sensational sets and stunning special effects.

Bursting with magical songs by the Sherman brothers, including Toot Sweets, Hushabye Mountain, Truly Scrumptious and, of course, the Academy-award-nominated title song Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, this action-packed adventure is the story of a magical flying car.

Get ready to hold tight as you accompany eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts and his two kids Jemima and Jeremy, alongside Truly Scrumptious Grandpa Potts as they try to outwit the dastardly Baron and evil Child Catcher.

Tickets go on sale for LiveCard members and groups of 10 or more tomorrow and to the general public on Monday.

Tickets are £14 to £39.50. LiveCard members can take advantage of their two-for-one offer on Thursday and Monday, April 17 and 21, and bring a family of four for £28 to £75.

Groups of 10 or more can save up to £10 per person if they book before December 31 by phoning 0800 587 5007.

If tickets for Monday to Friday showings are bought before December 31, save up to £5.
