MGM sell `Die Another Day` rights to US TV networks for $30 million
MGM has sold the latest James Bond movie, "Die Another Day", to CBS and its Viacom sister networks TNN and UPN for a license fee of between $25 million (16 million pounds) and $30 million.
Although CBS will get the first run of the film in November 2005, TNN was the driver of the deal.
TNN owns the rights to a batch of early Bond movies that have scored with viewers and fit the network`s new brand identity of scheduling programmes with heavy male appeal.
CBS was the logical broadcast network because it had bought exclusive network rights to the last two Bond films: "The World Is Not Enough" and "Tomorrow Never Dies".
The license term of "Die Another Day" runs for five years and, after CBS` first run, the movie will shift among all three networks, with TNN getting the most plays.
