Director Michael Winner purchased Harry Saltzman`s monogrammed Rolls Royce
In a characteristic rant about money for the
Daily Mail, director Michael Winner reveals he once bought a special Rolls Royce from James Bond producer Harry Saltzman.
"My 1966 Rolls Royce Phantom V, the sort of thing the Queen drives around in waving at the populace, cost me £8,000, just a year after it was first registered. It's a darned sight better made than today's £300,000 cars. Works perfectly."
"The only trouble was I bought it from James Bond movie producer Harry Saltzman and he'd put his initials in gold on all the doors. So I either had to change my name to match the initials HS or get the car re-sprayed. I chose the latter."
"It has a lovely smooth ride. I don't need to spend £300,000 to improve it, thank you very much."
