Goldfinger screening at Lafayette Theater, New York on Saturday morning
When it comes to action movie icons, few are bigger than James Bond. And when it comes to the best Bond films, few are better than "Goldfinger."
The third Bond film, starring Sean Connery, screens at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Lafayette Theater, 97 Lafayette Ave., Suffern.
oors open 30 minutes before showtime - come early for pre-show music by Jeff Barker on the Mighty Wurlitzer.
Most critics and Bond fans agree that if "Goldfinger" is not the best of the Bond films, it's at least a classic movie in its own right. After the first two entries, Connery's Bond was finally coming into his own, and this film, featuring 007 investigating a plot to destroy the world's gold, has several of the iconic Bond villains and scenes. Among the memorable characters are the scary, hat-throwing Odd Job, the lovely Pussy Galore, and, of course, the sadistic Goldfinger and his attempt to split Bond in half with a laser.
Really, this 1964 film is a wonderful dessert after a long weekend of eating turkey and watching football.
