Visit to Bond 22 set up for charity auction
Authentic Afghan kites, each with a tail autographed by a different U.S. celebrity, will be sold on eBay to raise money for the Afghanistan Relief Organization.
It's all part of a charity drive linked to the upcoming release of the Kabul-set film "The Kite Runner" directed by Marc Forster - who is also helming the 22nd James Bond film.
Madonna, Angelina Jolie, Daniel Craig, Kate Winslet, Benicio Del Toro, Halle Berry, Will Ferrell, Cher, Steve Nash, Former President George H.W. Bush and other luminaries made contributions to the online auction, which is slated to begin Wednesday, Paramount Classics said in a statement.
Along with their kites, winning bidders will receive "thank you" cards signed by the celebrities who autographed the kites' tails.
Other items to be listed on eBay include a trip to the set of the new James Bond film as a personal guest of director Marc Forster, as well as a private lunch with "The Kite Runner" author Khaled Hosseini.
"We are so grateful to everyone involved with 'The Kite Runner' and all the celebrities who have contributed to this amazing charity auction, and we especially wish to thank eBay for the support and exposure it will generate," Mary Adams Urashima, an ARO board member, said in a statement.
