Take That `desperate` to perform Bond 22 theme song

05-Jan-2008 • Quantum Of Solace

Take That are desperate to record the title track for the next James Bond film - according to UK tabloid The People.

The ageing former teen idols even used a televised New Year gig to try to persuade producers to sign them up.

Insiders point out Gary Barlow, 35, Jason Orange, 37, Mark Owen, 35, and Howard Donald, 39, have movie form - they feature in last year's Robert de Niro hit Stardust. A source said: "All the guys are Bond fans and would love to record the title track.

"Their song Rule The World is on the Stardust soundtrack and has been tipped for an Oscar, so they're a natural choice for this."

Landing the Bond tune would net the reunited Manchester foursome a fortune - to add to the £17million they pocketed in 2007 alone.

At their sell-out New Year show, they performed their No1 smash Relight My Fire against a dazzling backdrop of images from the Roger Moore 007 film Live And Let Die.

The source said: "We're sure Bond bosses will have enjoyed it and it's only a matter of time before a deal is signed."
