Talks with rumoured Bond 21 Girl Aishwarya Rai postponed due to hospitalisation

07-Apr-2003 • Casino Royale

The BBC have reported that talks between EON Productions representatives and the rumoured Bond 21 Girl Aishwarya Rai have been delayed due to her hospitalisation.

The actress is recovering in hospital in Bombay (Mumbai) after being injured in an accident. Rai hurt her foot late on Wednesday during a film shoot near Nasik, 185 km east of Mumbai. Doctors have declared her to be out of danger.

The accident took place just a day after the actress made headlines in a controversy involving two Bollywood actors, Vivek Oberoi and Salman Khan. Rai`s personal secretary, Hari Singh (who always revealed the Bond 21 talks), said that she was injured when a jeep hit her during a rehearsal for the film Khaki. The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle which veered off the road and hit her.

It it alleged by Singh that an international casting angency who were representing EON Productions came to speak to Rai on the set of Khaki, but her hospitilisation meant talks had to be postponed until she is fully recovered.

Rai is already signed for two Hollywood projects - Gurinder Chadha`s "Bride and Prejudice" and Roland Joffe`s "Invaders". Check out the Bond 21 Girl feature on MI6 for full coverage.
