The council was today reported to be in the final stages of talks to bring Bond Bound, a major exhibition marking the centenary of the writer's birth, to the City Art Centre between July and September.

The show, which is also being staged at the Fleming Collection Gallery in London from April to June, will feature artwork from the early spy novels, archive film posters and various other items of Bond memorabilia.

It will also look at the legacy of the famous secret agent, including recent books such as the Young Bond series and The Moneypenny Diaries, as well as the latest Bond novel about the spy's later life, which is due to be released this year.

Council officials are understood to be keen to bring the exhibition to the Capital because of its links with the fictional secret agent.

Bond's father was a Scot from Glencoe, while according to You Only Live Twice, the young spy entered Fettes College in the spring of 1941.
