Mathieu Amalric says Quantum of Solace will be `very dark`
Mathieu Amalric's latest offer was to be the next Bond villain, Dominic Greene, which he immediately accepted - reports
The Times in an interview with the French actor.
It is not because he wants to be famous. Far from it. âSpending two days in a hotel doing interviews is not my goal. No, I could be with my kids. I could be making love. Thatâs real life. Surprising my girlfriend, going to Lisbon for two days, you know, thatâs life. But I couldnât resist it. My two boys, who are 8 and 10 â I canât tell them one day that I refused to be the villain in a Bond movie.â Besides, he has always enjoyed the films, and confesses that, since the age of 18, he has used 0007 as a Pin number. He reels off a list of actors who have been Bond villains before: âJust the best actors in the world.â
Before accepting the role, he asked the veteran actor Michael Lonsdale, who played the villainous Sir Hugo Drax in Moonraker, how it had affected his career. âIt didnât change his life,â Amalric says. He adds that the film is âvery darkâ and the role extremely physical â anything might seem physical after playing Bauby â because of a big fight with Bond at the end. âIâll have to be in shape for it,â he says.
