Aston Martin to learn from Mercedes
British sports car maker Aston Martin could be looking for German technology in the shape of Mercedes to replace the gap left when Ford sold up last year - reports
TheAge.
The German news magazine Der Spiegel reported on Saturday that the famous marque's German chief, Ulrich Bez, had met Dieter Zetsche, head of the board at Stuttgart-based Daimler, the parent of Mercedes.
Bez is reported to need technology input urgently following Ford's sale of Aston Martin to an investment consortium in spring May last year for some $US925 million ($A995 million).
Mercedes declined to comment on the report.
Der Spiegel said Daimler was interested in much more than merely selling Aston Martin - James Bond's preferred means of escape - the around 7,000 engines it needs every year.
But the investors were not interested in allowing Daimler to take a stake, the report said.
