Moore praises Connery for his stint as James Bond
Sir Roger Moore has reportedly praised Sir Sean Connery, claiming the Scotsman's portrayal of James Bond made the franchise what it is today - reports
Metro.
Sir Roger apparently thinks if he had starred in the first Bond film, Dr No, there wouldn't have been a second flick - but Sir Sean, by contrast, was perfect for the job.
"There probably wouldn't have been a second Bond film if I had done the first," the former 007 told the paper.
"Sean was responsible for creating a very believable Bond, and I was responsible for a cheeky one."
The 80-year-old has written his memoirs My Word Is My Bond, which is out next month.
In the book, he apparently reveals he understood the Bond producers' decision to replace him with Timothy Dalton.
"Quite frankly, Father Time was being unkind," he apparently said. "It got to the stage where I was looking down with 14 chins and leading ladies who were my daughter's age."
