Chitty chitty makes a bang at Pinewood
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang returned to Pinewood Studios in order to celebrate the film's 40th anniversary two weeks ago - reports the
Buckinghamshire Advertiser.
A replica of the famous car was on display, outside Heatherden Hall which was used as Truly Scrumptious' house in the popular 1968 children's film.The car has been recreated over the past ten years by Gordon Grant, a set decorater and art director, who converted it from a transit van to raise money for Cancer Research.
Mr Grant has worked on a number of different projects at Pinewood, includig Thunderbirds and the Golden Compass.
The original film, starring Dick Van Dyke and Sally Ann Howes, has become a favourite among children and in order to mark the anniversary, the studio decided to celebrate the occasion by displaying Mr Grant's car. It will now be used at commercial events and functions across the UK.
