James Bond comes number 2 in a list of most desirable dinner dates as voted by women

James Bond has come second to Mr Darcy in a survey of fictional characters women would most like to go on a date with.

Austen`s creation beat other fictional heroes, such as 007 and Superman, in the poll of more than 1900 women by Book Marketing Limited.

The top ten dinner party dates were:
1 Mr Darcy
2 James Bond
3 Superman
4 Hercule Poirot
5 Inspector Morse
6 Heathcliff
7 Sherlock Holmes
8 Rhett Butler
9 Prince Charming
10 Sharpe
