Aston Martin DBS voted most iconic British car of all time
James Bond's favourite motor was named the most iconic British car of all time, reports the
Press Association.
The Aston Martin DB5, which has featured in a number of 007 movies, took top spot in a poll of 2,300 people for the digital TV channel Dave.
In contrast, the Reliant Robin, which appeared in TV show Only Fools And Horses, was rated the most embarrassing British car.
Second to the DB5 as most iconic vehicle was the Jaguar E-Type, with the Mini Cooper third and another Aston Martin - the V8 Vantage, fourth.
The second most embarrassing car was the Austin Allegro, with the Austin Princess third and the Hillman Imp fourth.
The poll also found that on average British drivers spend more than 15 hours a week in their cars but since the big increase in petrol prices, as many as 53% have cut down on unnecessary journeys.
Also, 44% of the those surveyed thought 4x4 vehicle owners were "rich and ignorant", while 67% reckoned that those who drove hybrid or electric cars were environmentalists.
A total of 49% thought those who drove a Porsche were arrogant and wanting to make a statement while 44% thought they were having a mid-life crisis.
Of the Aston Martin DB5, Rowland Rivron of Dave said: "The car that dominates this survey is fun, fast and stylish so it's no surprise it's been named as having the cool factor, as it's synonymous with one of our best-loved movie characters."
