Australian 007 fans declare Quantum of Solace a winner
The latest James Bond movie Quantum of Solace burst on to cinema screens around Victoria, Australia yesterday, with 007 fanatics declaring Bond as sizzling and sexy as ever - reports the
Herald Sun.
Bond lovers who saw the first session at the Greater Union cinema in Russell St said the film delivered everything fans wanted from a Bond movie, with plenty of action, great stunts and beautiful women.
The film opened in 135 cinemas in Victoria yesterday and 478 nationally.
It was the second biggest opening day screening next to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which opened in 535 cinemas nationally.
While reviewers have not rated it as highly its predecessor Casino Royale, fans gave the 22nd big-screen adventure at least an 8.5 out of 10.
Those who were first to see it said the movie ran at a breakneck speed with spectacular car chases and breathtaking stunts.
Yesterday's audience at Greater Union was at least 80 per cent male but Dianne Barnett of Queensland said she was a Bond fan from way back.
"My husband put me on to it and I've been a fan ever since," she said.
"The film is very exciting and it is just go, go, go from beginning to end. Then of course there's Daniel Craig, who is excellent."
Mario, 59, of Fawkner, said the movie ranked up with any Bond movie he had seen -- and he has seen them all.
"It had everything as far as I was concerned. A great chase sequence, plenty of action and lots of killing," he said.
Sebastian, 34, of Brisbane, described the film as a continuation of Casino Royale and he suspected there would be a third instalment.
"It starts off just minutes after the climax of Casino Royale and you can see they are probably going to do a third instalment of this one because it is an outstanding story," he said.
Luin On, 31, of Tottenham, described the film as "outstanding and worth every penny of the admission price".
"I've only started watching Bond films since Casino Royale and I would give this 8.5 out of 10. There is so much action, it is great fun," he said.
Simon Northwood, 31, of Oakleigh, said: "It was typical Bond with plenty of action, plenty of stunts, cute girls and great action scenes.
"That's exactly what you want out of a Bond movie."
