`Die Another Day` Special Edition DVD sells 5 million copies in its first week of Region 1 release

According to the Hollywood Reporter, "Die Another Day" is believed to have sold about 5 million of its initial shipment of 8 million combined DVD and VHS units to consumers in the USA aduring its first week of release in Region 1.

The vast majority of those sales - between 80% to 90% - represent DVD sales to consumers, the sources said.

The film topped Nielsen VideoScan`s weekly First Alert DVD sales chart by a wide margin.

"Die Another Day" is set to smash the 2002 record breaker "Harry Potter & the Sorcerer`s Stone", which only managed to sell 6.5 million DVDs.
