Fleming`s GoldenEye home host to elaborate Heineken party
The World Of Bond, that is what Goldeneye, the beautiful estate in Oracabessa, St Mary where Ian Flemming first penned his famous novels, was transformed into last Saturday night - reports
The Jamaican Observer.
Heinekin's 'Enter the World of Bond' campaign promoted the premiere of Quantum of Solace, the 22nd film featuring the famous British spy agent known by the code 007, through a number of road shows and challanges across Jamaica.
Manchester resident Kirk Gaynor was the victor after a series of Extreme Bond Challenges, and received a number of prizes, among them $100,000 and the chance accompany Casino Royale Bond Girl and Italian beauty Caterina Murino to an exclusive Heineken event at GoldenEye on Saturday.
Now a tourist destination owned by Chris Blackwell's Island Outpost, the property in Oracabessa, was the lush setting for the upscale Heineken-endorsed event on December 6.
The star-studded guest list, which included the names of local and international celebrities such as Miss Jamaica 2007 Yendi Phillips and Mads Mikkelsen (who played the villainous Le Chiffre in the 2006 Bond film Casino Royale) was a veritable showing of femme fatales and well-dressed gentlemen, all of whom enjoyed the party's offering of sumptuous food, live music inspired by the Bond films, and martini's inspired by the man himself.
Guests were greeted by Heineken girls and waiters bearing limited-edition bottles of the beer, specially made with this year's film Quantum of Solace in mind.
The upscale decor of the open GoldenEye cottage led party attendees to the sprawling lawn of the estate.
Featuring a picturesque pool lit with ambient candles, a live band playing reggae variations of the well-known Bond theme, a stage on which the winner of the Extreme Bond Challenge was presented with a case-full of beer, and a Heinekin bar which was the focal point of the view, the Ian Fleming's former mansion was the perfect background for the night's festivities.
The affair's featured guest, Caterina Murino, who played Bond's female interest in the film Casino Royale, was a vision in a little black dress. She reminded the crowd to drink Heinekin responsibly when she took to the stage.
The Capoeira dancers and models from Saint International joined Murino on stage to showcase Bond-influenced fight scenes and famous outfits, including Halle Berry's iconic orange bikini in 2002's Die Another Day.
The delectable eats that were provided added to the 5-star flavour of the event. Lobster, pork, lamb, chicken and a host of other meats were feasted upon by the specially invited 'agents' not to mention the deserts options that had the femmes contemplating whether "to eat or not to eat".
Later in the evening Jamaica's Heineken Green Synergy competition winner DJ Jigga and party animal Kurt Riley thrilled the guests at GoldenEye with the sounds of 90s dancehall classics, urging dancers to take to the stage before transitioning to modern hip-hop, dancehall and soca.
The dance floor was filled to capacity with patrons bumping and grinding to hits from Machel Mantano, rdx and a host of other Jamaican and caribbean artistes. Scores of well-known personnels could be seen doing their own version of the 'nuh linga' and the 'gully creeper' .
The party which was scheduled end at 11:00 pm ran into the wee hours of Sunday morning.
