Charlie Higson switches on Christmas lights in Islington
More than 200 people gathered in Archway on Friday to join in the festivities at the Christmas lights switch-on.
Author and comedian Charlie Higson did the honours while entertainers from the Scarabeus Theatre gave a dazzling display of stilt walking in incredible costumes - reports the
Islington Tribute.
Mr Higson, author of the Young Bond novels and one of the brains behind hit comedy programme The Fast Show, took time out to sign books for his fans.
Kate Calvert, Better Archway Forum chairwoman said: âIt was really nice to see Archway all lit up for Christmas again. Weâve got blue and white lights and thereâs a splendid show on the Methodist church as well. It really does cheer people up.
âThey feel better about the place when somebodyâs made an effort.â
Visitors who braved the cold were treated to mince pies while a band played on.
