Pinewood Studios to open its doors to privileged students
Pinewood studios is one of the companies opening its doors to the public eye for the first time.
It will be in conjunction with Channel 4's Inspiration Week where young people between 14-19 years old can obtain an all-round view of the media industry in order to help them with their career prospects - reports
The Buckinghamshire Advertiser.
Groups of students will be taken around the complex and the aim of this opportunity is to allow young people to recognise and understand the different roles within the media and therefore, what skills are needed in order to obtain it.
Diane McKaye, from Pinewood Studios believes the main benefit for the young participants is to give them an "insight into an inaccessible industry" and all the students need to bring with them is a "passion for working in the industry".
Once there, the participants will be involved in a wide range of activities including interactive sessions, one-to-one careers advice, but most importantly, they will have talks with high-level media professionals and peer-to-peer learning. The idea behind it is to take participants into the elusive world of filmmaking including the gloabally unique 'Underwater Other companies also taking part such as Cahnnel 4's London Headquarters, as well as at BAFTA, The Guardian, Mediabox, and Skillset.
