TABLOID RUMOUR
Millionaire director Danny Boylke has been asked to take charge of the next James Bond movie, according to
The Sun.
Down-to-earth Danny is hot property in Hollywood after his Mumbai-set film became an Oscar sensation. And Bond chief Barbara Broccoli, who now heads the huge 007 franchise at EON Productions, is leading the chase for his services.
Manchester-born Danny, 52, has insisted in interviews that big budgets are not important to him. But the grittier direction Bond films have taken since Daniel Craig took the role has changed his view about the blockbusters.
He is also pals with Callum McDougal â who shot the 2000 film The Beach with him and is now a Bond [executive] producer.
A source said: âDanny is the man of the moment and he is being bombarded with offers from studios.
âHe has been offered the chance to direct the 23rd Bond film by Barbara. The EON team love his vision and think that it would work perfectly for the new look of Bond.
âDanny has always insisted he is more interested in the film than the money.
âHowever, with Daniel Craigâs involvement and the way the films are now structured â with the emphasis on the characters and plot rather than gags and gadgets â it is right up Dannyâs street.
âEveryone on the EON team thinks Danny would be a fantastic addition to the Bond family.â
Danny was named Best Director as Slumdog â starring Dev Patel and Freida Pinto â picked up eight Oscars. It also won four Golden Globes and seven Baftas. His previous films include Shallow Grave, Trainspotting and 28 Days Later.
