New Zealand TV - `Casino Royale` makes free-to-air debut, Sunday night

04-Apr-2009 • Media Alert

Movie: Casino Royale (2006)
Channel: Prime TV (New Zealand)
Date: Sunday 5th April 2009
Time: 20:30

Casino Royale has well documented New Zealand connections with director Martin Campbell living and working in Hastings in his earlier years. Daniel Craig's stunt double, Ben Cooke, though born in Britain, was raised in New Zealand when his family shifted there when he was aged 5. The internationally known stuntman has been Craig's double for the past two 007 films, picking up an international award for a death-defying jump between two cranes in Casino Royale.

Casino Royale introduces James Bond before he holds his license to kill. But Bond is no less dangerous and with two professional assassinations in quick succession, he is elevated to "007" status. With his new license to kill, Bond tracks the infamous Le Chiffre, a man suspected to be the world's biggest banker for terrorist organisations. Bond will not only discover the threatening organisation behind his enemy, but the worst of all truths: to trust no one.
