Bond collector avoids jail for Golden Gun replica

A film buff who was caught with a James Bond-style golden gun has narrowly avoided a jail term, reports the Herald.

Spy fan Lisa Anderson collected the replica weapon as part of her memorabilia collection. Anderson, 45, had kept the firearm in a black box in her bedroom, next to a copy of popular comic Oor Wullie and the Broons. But police were forced to confiscate the gun after discovering she did not have a firearm certificate.

Police stumbled upon the weapon after searching Anderson's home in Alexandria, Dumbartonshire, following a tip off that she was dealing drugs. They also found a tiny amount of cocaine belonging to Anderson.

During an earlier hearing at Dumbarton sheriff court, Anderson admitted that she had bought the gun on eBay three years ago.

The gun - which cost Â£200 - is an air-powered weapon capable of being modified to fire .22 calibre bullets and has since been destroyed.

Owning one illegally normally carries a minimum five-year jail term.

Anderson pled guilty to possessing class A drugs worth Â£20 and owning a prohibited weapon. She was placed on probation for two years and received 300 hours of community service.
