Win tickets to classic Bond films at Cinema City, Norwich, UK

06-Jun-2009 • Event

To celebrate the centenary of Albert R. 'Cubby' Broccoli - the legendary producer who was the driving force behind bringing James Bond to the big screen - Cinema City is screening four classic 007 adventures over the next four Sundays at 5.30pm - reports Evening News 24.

To celebrate Broccoli's legacy, and the impact of the franchise on film culture, the Norwich cinema is presenting the retrospective with the digitally restored and re-mastered films seen as they were originally intended, on the big screen.

The season starts this Sunday with the first Bond film, Dr No. Sean Connery was cast in the lead role and the film featured the usual Broccoli touch of exotic locations: this time Jamaica and surrounding waters, from which a bikini-clad Urslula Andress memorably emerged.

From Russia With Love will be screened on June 14. Broccoli considered it one of the best Fleming stories. Connery once again excelled with Robert Shaw wonderfully menacing as a brutal killer.

June 21 will see the screening of Goldfinger. To many, the quintessential Bond film. Here 007 gets his Aston Martin, spars with two statuesque British beauties (Honor Blackman and Shirley Eaton) and pits his wits against a memorable villain, Auric Goldfinger.

Connery's decision to quit as Bond left Broccoli with a headache. He chose good-looking Australian actor George Lazenby after successful screen tests. Lazenby's only outing with the licence to kill, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, will be screened on JUne 28.

Going Out has teamed up with Cinema City to offer readers the chance to win a pair of tickets to see all four films.
