`Goldfinger` outdoor screening in Rochester, MN, July 17th
Screening: "Dr No"
Location: History Center, Olmsted County, MN, USA
Date: Monday 13th July 2009
Time: 21:00
Since 2006, the History Center of Olmsted County has rekindled the by-gone era of drive-ins by dropping a large sheet down the side of the Historic Stoppel Farmstead barn for outdoor movie nights - reports the
Post Bulletin.
On nice nights, the movies, which are family-friendly affairs, draw up to 300 people, said Jeff Amundson, development director.
New this year, the history center is inviting nonprofit organizations to host pre-movie activities to raise funds for their organizations. The pre-show activities will start between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. and can be whatever the organizations want to do. The Children's Museum of Rochester, for example, plans to have singer Jake Donze perform, Amundson said.
Movies start at dusk, between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., and are free through a sponsorship by Think Mutual Bank. The history center will sell concessions, including popcorn. Bring your own lawnchair or blanket. Coolers are welcome.
In case of rain, the screening will be held inside the museum. The history center is at 1195 W. Circle Dr. S.W. in Rochester.
James Bond's debut "Dr. No," 1963, starring Sean Connery, will screen on July 17. Pre-movie activities to be announced.
