Young Bond inspires new Scouts Adventure badge

Puffin Books is sponsoring a new Scouts badge, the Puffin Adventure Challenge Badge. The aim of the badge is to encourage young Scouts to get involved in the kinds of challenges featured in some of Puffin’s adventure ‘brands’ including Young Bond, Percy Jackson, Artemis Fowl, Young Samurai and Dangerzone - reports the Bookseller.

Scouts will be able to choose activities from 25 cards which include powered aircrafting with Max Gordon from the Dangerzone series, hot air ballooning with criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl, stunt kiting with Young Bond, surfing with demi-god Percy Jackson and dragon boating with Young Samurai Jack Fletcher.

Scouts need to complete three different activities in order to receive their badge, which will be available for two years as part of the sponsorship deal with Puffin.

Puffin will also host competitions for Scouts to win a Puffin library or equipment for their groups and there will be opportunities for Puffin authors to do events with regional groups and larger meetings such as the Scout Winter Camp, where more than 10,000 children get together for a weekend of activities.

Kirsten Grant, marketing director for Puffin Books, said that the sponsorship deal gave Puffin direct access to more than 400,000 potential readers.
