Jeremy Clarkson hosts successful Bond-themed charity auction
Jeremy Clarkson proved nobody does it better by conducting a James Bond-themed auction that raised more than £14,000 for Chipping Nortonâs open air swimming pool - reports
Cotswold Journal.
The television presenter and Chipping Norton resident performed the role of auctioneer at the annual event, held in aid of Chipping Norton Lido.
Top lot was an Aston Martin performance driving experience that went for £900, while holidays in Scotland and Spain, in houses not usually available for rent, fetched £800 and £700 respectively.
The money raised will go towards annual operating costs at the community-run pool, which receives no significant public funding.
In its six years, the Lido Auction of Promises has raised more than £100,000 to ensure the pool remains open each summer.
Organiser and Lido trustee, Ken Norman, said: âIt was all very entertaining.
âJeremy was on good form and we had a lot of fun.
âLots of the donors entered the spirit of the 007 theme and weâd like to thank them all for their generous support.â
