Polish tabloids cook up `Joanna Ignaczewska cast as Bond girl` rumour
Despite the lack of a completed script and with no director attached to the 23rd James Bond movie, you may wonder if there are is any truth behind casting rumours at this early stage in the production's development cycle. And you would be right to wonder.
This has not stopped a wave of unfounded stories in Polish media today about the 'casting' of 25-year old Polish actress Joanna Ignaczewska as the next Bond girl.
Pudelek have gone so far as to 'quote' the EON casting director: "Ignaczewska is our next choice - confirmed casting boss Debbie McWilliams. She is very qualified for this role and a capable actress. After the success of herpredecessor, Olga Kurylenko from the Ukraine, Joanna was a very good choice."
But the news does not seem to be as confirmed in the mind of Ignaczewska. "I am happy that I have got so much opportunity in my life," she told Super Express. "The last two years of my life were filled with work and sacrifices. When four years ago I started studying acting school in New York Actors Studio, it seemed to me that dream. Step by step, my dreams are beginning to meet. I am glad that there were people who appreciated me. I still do not believe that I would be Bond girl. Of course, with the production anything can happen. But I strongly believe that I will succeed."
Ignaczewska, who now lives in London, found some fame in her native Poland recently for being romantically linked to Leonardo Di Caprio. Perhaps tabloid rumours of Bond will help her career, too?
When pressed by national TV in Poland, her manager gave a brief statement: "I cannot confirm nor deny this news, but we will soon make a statement to the media."
Izabella Scorupco was the first Polish-born actress to play a lead Bond Girl role (Natalya in "GoldenEye" - 1995).
