UK TV - `Casino Royale` to make terrestrial debut on Saturday 19th September

12-Sep-2009 • Media Alert

Daniel Craig's debut outing as James Bond in the 2006 movie "Casino Royale" will premiere on UK terrestrial television on Saturday 19th September.

Making its premiere on ITV at 9:15pm, the film will break for the news at 11:05pm, resuming at 11:30pm and concluding at 12:15am.

Back in April 2006, ITV won the bidding war for Sony Pictures International and MGM's complete Bond library before "Casino Royale" had even hit theatres. Rival terrestrial UK TV station Channel 4 came close to winning Daniel Craig's first film as 007, with a strong competitive bid.

"The Bond catalogue contains some of the most successful films in British film history," said ITV's acquisitions chief Jay Kandola at the time. "I am delighted to have secured the first terrestrial screening of Daniel Craig as James Bond, exclusively for ITV viewers."

ITV originally announced that "Casino Royale" would aired sometime after late 2007 - two years later Bond fans will get to see Daniel Craig as 007 on the small screen.

Unconfirmed press rumours claimed that ITV paid around £25 million GBP for the packaged rights.
