Rare say destiny conspired to block `GoldenEye 007` release on XBLA

22-Sep-2009 • Gaming

"Goldeneye 007" developer Rare has stated what might be the last word on the saga that had many fans hoping and some expecting to see the best-selling James Bond videogame appear on the Xbox 360 and/or Nintendo Wii.

On their regularly updated "stupid Rare letters page", the games house responded to an enquiry about the odds of "GoldenEye 007" being re-released on something other than its orginal Nintendo 64 platform.

When asked what happened to any rumoured plans, Rare responded "That was some time ago, my friend. Fate was against us that day. Destiny conspired to raise the hurdles even as we attempted to clear them, resulting in unpleasant groinal injury. I suspect we're long past the stage where an agreement was on the cards, but you never know. Stranger things have happened... somewhere... probably."

Nintendo executives are believed to be the primary reason the game was not re-released, after they reportedly blocked the Xbox Live Arcade version that was ported.
