South Africa TV - 007 movies throughout October

09-Oct-2009 • Media Alert

Sean Connery is back as super-suave British agent 007, the man with a licence to kill, in 1983's "Never Say Never Again", part of the current James Bond film festival, running until December on DStv's M-Net Action in South Africa, reports Tonight.

Directed by Irvin Kershner and also featuring Barbara Carrera, Never Say Never Again is tagged for 8pm on Saturday.

It has Bond lured into a deadly game of cat-and-mouse with a million-dollar killer after his life is threatened.

This film marked Connery's final performance as 007. Interestingly, the actor said he'd never play Bond again before the film was made, but his wife helped convince him otherwise and came up with the title as well.

Next Saturday, also at 8pm, the channel will screen another 1983 hit, Octopussy, featuring Roger Moore as 007, under John Glen's direction.

In this hit, Bond must investigate the murder of a fellow agent who was clutching a priceless Faberge egg at the time of his death.

The trail leads to the mysterious Octopussy, whose travelling circus features luscious, athletic women.

Bond and Octopussy share a passionate attraction, but soon 007 discovers that the elegant Kamal Khan is working with a mad Russian officer to hurl mankind into World War 3.

As Bond tries to stop the nightmarish scheme, his exploits will include a riveting chase through the streets of India, a deadly brawl on top of a speeding train and a breathtaking mid-air knife fight on an airplane wing.

At 8pm on Saturday, October 24, Bond fans can expect 1985's View To a Kill, with Moore, Christopher Walken and Grace Jones.

When Bond is sent to investigate a security leak at the hi-tech Zorin Industries, he discovers a hotbed of murder and deception. The company's mysterious owner, Max Zorin, has devised a plan to corner the world's microchip market, even if he has to kill millions to do it.

The film marked the last appearance of Lois Maxwell, who played Miss Moneypenny since Dr No.
