Pierce Brosnan stars in PSA about Marine Protected Areas

10-Oct-2009 • Actor News

Pierce Brosnan has led some of Hollywood's environment-conscious activists and leading ocean conservative groups in a new public service announcement supporting the establishment of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) along the Southern California coast.

Brosnan and wife Keely, with "Scrubs" stars John C. McGinley and Christa Miller, Amy Smart, Gabby Reece, Edie McClurg, and Simon Helberg team up for the PSA, which was produced by Heal the Bay, Surfrider Foundation, Save Our Coast, and Shifting Baselines.

In the ad, the stars give the importance of having areas of the ocean set aside as safe havens to conserve marine life and habitats, or MPAs. Just like national parks, which were created to preserve nature, MPAs will protect special places in the underwater world.

The PSA aims to raise awareness about the benefit of MPAs and to encourage public participation in helping resolve their boundaries.
