Connery`s special charity screening of LXG helps victims of Prague flood that caused filming havoc

16-Aug-2003 • Actor News

Siffy News have reported that Sean Connery attended a special screening of his latest film in Prague on Tuesday in aid of victims of the floods that swept the Czech Republic in August 2002.

Connery was filming "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" in Prague when the worst floods in more than a century hit the 800-year-old city, forcing the evacuation of the hotel he was staying in.

After the screening, he and actress Peta Wilson were due to present former Czech president Vavlav Havel`s Vision 97 foundation with a check of one million koruna ($37,000) to help flood victims.

The flooding of the Vltava river claimed 18 lives and caused damage estimated at some 2.5 billion euros.

More than 200,000 people were evacuated from their homes, and several art treasures in museums and libraries destroyed in the flood`s wake.
